COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE FOR JAMES TARKUS
A MESSAGE FROM SUSAN EASTWOOD - DIRECTOR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION PROGRAM

I know and have seen many times that our Lord can truly make a way when there is no way. I believe in miracles because I have seen them in the life of James Esinyon Tarkus from the beginning. The pictures below are of  James on the very first day I met him in Sobea on August 18, 2012. He was wearing the best thing he owned. His mother, whom he loved, had just died a few months before that. He was tiny and frail , but had a big smile. On that day I interviewed all of the students who would become part of the Children's Education Program.  I interviewed each child that day to know what they wanted to be when they finished school. I got many answers and most of those answers changed over the years. James, however, has from the very first day said:

I WANT TO BE A PILOT

There are so many pictures in between 2012 and 2019... so many stories... so many struggles... so many highs and lows. BUT one thing has remained the same. James has ALWAYS wanted to be a pilot. In December of 2019 he went for a flight assessment ( pic below) - to see if he was cut out to be a pilot. This included a physical exam and a test to see that he could handle the "ups and downs" of flight...And indeed he was made to be a pilot.

The first part of his journey to be a commercial pilot was to get his private pilot's license. He could begin to train as soon as we were able to raise the $10,000 needed for him to get that training and become licensed. And by God's grace, that $10,000 came - quickly.
On August 5, 2019 James got his uniform and began the journey to become a private pilot. On March 16th,2021, he completed his first solo  flight. In the next couple of months he will receive his private pilot's license.

WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP?

When we prayed and asked God to allow $10,000 for this first part of the journey we were fully aware of how big the ask was. But we also knew our God is big and through him all things are possible.
And now... the next step is to train for his commercial pilot's license.
He will continue to train at FliteStar Academy - please follow the link below for more information on the school.

Total cost will require $28,000..... yes... it's a lot of money. But I know with all my heart that this boy has been faithful in all things and that God will make a way.
